Nine new commodities added to boost the digital agri-trade platform

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, has expanded the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) by adding nine new commodities, raising the total tradable items to 247. This move responds to demands from farmers and traders for broader market access and deeper integration. The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) developed tradable parameters for these commodities after consultations with stakeholders and approval from Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. These standards ensure farmers receive fair prices based on quality, reducing middlemen’s influence. The new commodities include Green Tea, Mustard Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, and Broken Rice. This expansion strengthens e-NAM as a transparent, quality-driven platform, empowering farmers and boosting India’s agricultural economy. Read More
