Keeping in view the holiday season coming up, Shimla District Administration has launched a special drive for spreading awareness related to food safety. The campaign shall run until January 10 and focus on educating shopkeepers, dhabas, and other such roadside eateries across the national highway passing through the district. According to the district administration the decision was taken to ensure that food served to tourists at various tourist spots, meets quality standards. For this purpose mobile testing lab has been deployed for surveillance that will cover the food shops across the highway. The administration expects that it would serve as positive experience for the visiting tourists as well as locals.

Frito-Lay has issued a recall of a limited number of 13 oz. bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips that may contain undeclared milk, after being alerted through a consumer contact. Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product. The product included in this recall was distributed to certain retail stores and e-commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington. Consumers would have been able to purchase these chips as early as November 3, 2024.
