FSSAI Sets Up Panel to Revamp Organic Food Rules
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched a major review of organic food regulations, forming an expert panel to modernize certification, improve traceability, and enhance consumer trust. The initiative aims to align India’s standards with global benchmarks, address misleading claims, and ensure transparency across the supply chain. This follows APEDA’s revamp of its organic certification programme to support farmers and boost exports. With a target of US$2 billion in organic exports over five years, FSSAI’s efforts seek to build a unified, credible system and restore faith in the “organic” label across Indian products. Read More
